My little moment of discovery

I am writing this especially for my family. Because it is so very sacred, and personal. I want to share with you an experience that happened to me this morning before we started our studies.

As you all know, today is Preparation day. This means that we have to wash our clothes, shop, clean, study, prepare for the whole week. We don’t have much time to do it all so I usually start by waking up and doing my laundry. While I washing my clothes I usually think about random things… like what we will do this week, where we will eat today, old memories.. but today my thoughts were turned to the savior as I sat there in my silent time washing my garments.
Garments, as we all know, are white and need to remain white. But… I live and proselyte in the Philippines. So inevitably there are dirt in them, rain water stains, and just really dirty. So as I sat there and tried to get them white, even with the soap, I just couldn’t do it. I scrubbed and squeezed… I was so determined to get my garments white and not have to go get the zonrox.  But to no success, my garments were still not as white, and still a little brown from the dirt and rain water… I finally decided to get the zonrox, after I put just a little dab on seconds later they were white.
This is just like the Atonement. We are like garments, we make mistakes, we are dirty, we have stains. We MUST do everything in our power to become clean, for example go to church, read the scriptures, keep the commandments, pray, and after all that we do. The atonement makes up the difference.
We cannot become clean on our own. We need divine help. But only after ALL WE CAN DO.
I am so thankful for Christ and his infinite atonement for me because he loves me and wants me to return to him and the Father.
As I was thinking about his relationship with me as Elder brother… I thought of my earthly elder brother. Dustin. I never had a chance to meet him in this life, but I imagine that if he were here he would be something like the savior. Protective, loving, caring, compassionate, obedient, and willing to take the punishment for his little sister.
Then I thought about my little brother Weldon. I thought about the time that mom was prego with him how resentful I was. I didn’t want another baby… I wanted to be the baby forever. I remember when I had to go to the hospital, I didn’t want to go. And then when I got there mom told me to hold this little bomb that I thought ruined my world… I was hesitant. But I remember as I had this little home wrecker in my arms, and I looked into his little face, a wave of love washed over me. And ever since then, he has been such a great joy in my life. He makes me laugh when he laughs, I cry when he cries, I hurt when he hurts… I want to always just protect him, I want to do everything I can for him so he will have a good life… and then I thought about the way he sees me. I remember when I was almost ready to leave on my mission.. him and I went to the store and he just had to tell everyone that his sister was going on a mission to the Philippines.. and he was going to to when he got older. I remember he wanted to wear fingernail polish, because I did. He wants to do the same things as me.
This relationship is the same, or should be the same between us and the savior. The savoir loves us more than anyone else. He weeps when we weep, hurts when we hurt, rejoices when we rejoice, and laughs when we laugh. He wants to protect us. He Even took the punishment of sin upon  Himself so we could have a good life.
Now our relationship with him, is much like weldons relationship with me. We should look up to him and want to be like him. Do the things he did. Follow in his footsteps.

As we use the atonement we become more like the savior. Our relationship becomes stronger, and we really get to KNOW the savior.

Kabalo ako gid nga ini tanan matuod. Sa sagrado nga ngalan ni JesuCristo, Amen.

I love you. I hope this makes sense... (: love, sister young

Well this week has just been full of so many adventures!

Yesterday we had church and then after at about 3 we had to cross the
river/ocean to do a special sacrament there. It was an amazing
experience. We all just sat in this little bamboo hut/ house, had a
mini sacrament, and a mini testimony meeting. While it was pouring
rain, and no power. But it was great! THe spirit was so strong. THen
afterwards you ahve to take a little canoe boat thing to the main
island. but because of the rain it was flooding and the current was so
strong. so we made it to the weird litle island in the middle and then
walked across... the 3 others that were with us got in the boat to go
the rest of the way... but my compnaion and I just decided to walk.
the water wasn't that high... only about to the middle of my thighs.
ha. no big deal. We were soaked from the rain and from the ocean. but
it was a great experience!

The other day.. Friday I think, we bought 5 coconuts! haha. and made
buko salad. It was so good! And we took pictures at the beach. And we
just are finding lots of investigators! They aren't really
progressing, but they will. Becasue we have faith!

I've been studying about charity lately and I found a really amazing
quote from President monson. In a hundred small ways, all of you wear
the mantle of charity. Life is perfect for none of us. Rather than
being judgmental and critical of each other, may we have the pure love
of Christ for our fellow travelers in this journey through life. May
we recognize that each one is doing her best to deal with the
challenges which come her way, and may we strive to do our best to
help out.

its kinda directed to the women, but the men can be just as charitable as women

I lov eyou all. have a great week!

Love, your sister missionary.

Family Reunions

On saturday we had a fun activity with all three of the bacolod stakes. They had games and talents, and afterwards they set up tables, but banana leaves on them and then poured food on them. THen instead of having a plate or silverware you just grab what you can with your hands and eat(: thats the classic filippino way(: it was so much fun. (: I can't wait to make you all eat with your hands(:

I got to see my old recent converts, and members from my previous areas. It was such a grand time! And a time of good news. There is a whole hand full of my ward missionaries from all my areas that have their mission calls and everything! it is so cool!!!! I am so happy for them.

The work continues here in silay. This week is transfer week... I might be transfered. I don't know yet. I hope not, but its possible. I'll let you all know next week though(:

Love you all.

Love, Your sister missionary,
Sister Young

Transfers, new companions, same amazing spirit..

Well, today was another emergency transfer! So, just to catch you up if you have been so confused.. after Sister Menguito left I got a short term companion, sister Dalisay, then she stayed for two weeks, and I got another short term... from my old area. It was so much fun to be with her! Sister Mendoza. She was only my compnaion for 5 days and now I have a full time missionary companion, sister Legaspi. She is so great, i can already tell we are going to do great things together! (: we are batch so we go home at the same time, but, I love that neither of us are trunky.. we have such great desire to get out there and work.

This week was a challenging one for me. I struggled with some kind of being sick. I'm better now, don't you worry. But it was hard to just stay in my apartment cause I was sick. I just wanted to be out working and teaching.
The thing is though... you know its hard to have a short term companion... you have all the responsibility and you basically teach everything cause she doesn't really know anything... and I think I got sick because heavenly father was trying to teach me a lesson. I make mistakes, and I sometimes just think that I can do everything on my own... but I'm not Super Missionary Sister Young.. I'm just Sister Young and I can't do anything if I don't rely on the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

What I mean is that I am stubborn and I was trying to just do it all on my own. Not asking for the help that I knew that I needed. Why? I don't know. But I was reading in my personal study a couple of days ago in alma 7:11-13 where it talks about all the things that Christ went through for us.... and it hit me like a rock. I can do a lot of things on my own, but I can't accomplish what HE wants to be accomplished if I just try and do it myself. I learn alot, repented a lot, and now I am better.

I know i've said this before, but the atonement is not just to us to be cleaned from our sins, but it is for us to grow, and to over come our challenges, and to become who HE knows that we can become. WE are so special to have him.

Sister Camille got baptized this week! She is so great. I know that as she continues in the gospel and studies her testimony will grow and she will do great things in her life!

Have a great week everyone! (: \

Love you!

Family, I can't tell you how amazing it is here. I love this place, I love the gospel. I know that God lives. I know that Jesus Christ is our elder brother and that through his atonement we can be cleansed from our sins.
I know that the book of mormon is truely the word of god and that if we read it everyday we will be strengthened and it will fill our hearts with love, joy, and happiness and peace.
I'm still here, working my bootay off. ANd I love it even if it is so hard sometimes. I love you all so much!

FAMILY

What a one fun week this one was! We had a baptism of a Part member/ less active named Estephen. It was so rewarding to see his progress. At first he was so SHY that he would not even come out of the room while we would teach his brother, who is also a new convert, and eventually he started coming into the lessons and we extended a baptism date, and it was like pie from there! And in the process, his mom returned to activity in the church. I remember her bore her testimony and it was so simple and sweet that now her kids are members. Now we just have to work on the Husband. I have faith that all will work out for their family to eventually be sealed in the temple.

I am so blessed to be here on a mission. I have been reminded so much of the love that the lord has for me. Through my investigators, members, and especially my companions. Ilabina gid Si Sister Menguito. I think I have mentioned how amazing she is, but I can' t believe that the Lord would bless me with such an amazing Best Friend in the Mission. I have loved all of my companions...but there have only been a couple that I can say that we are more than just missionary companions, and sister Menguito is one of them. You know that "secret language" that you and your best friend have that you don't even have to say anything and you know what you mean.. That is me and her. And becasue of that we have such great success in helping people find the truthfulness of the gospel.

She has a killer testimony of the Church. She is a killer teacher, She may only be 6 months on her mission, but she is so amazing. She connects with everyone and you know that she loves being a missionary. Even on the hard days..

She is so hard working, and we laugh all the time. I don't think 5 minutes go by that we don't laugh. She is just the best. I am so so so thankful that I have a compnaion like her. I love her so much. I didn't know that I could love my companions so much. I will never forget about her.

My heart has grown so much in love and in testimony of the gospel becasue of her. I will be forever grateful for her.

This week we accomplished a lot for the Lord. WE still have so much work to do, because we know he is not satisfied.. but we can do it. I know I didn't really write much about my week and what we did. but I just felt like you needed to know how much amazing my compnaion is. How much I am changeing because of her and her faithful service to the Lord.

I love you, have a great week!
Love, your sister missionary,
Sister Young

My gwapa companion and I(: I hope you all get to meet her one day. she is the bomb.
So, I had to do laundry.. and had no time... so one time an elder told me that he just stomps on his clothes then hangs them up.. so ... I did it! haha it was fun. And my clothes.. well, at least they smell good(:

This week we had another great baptism! And his mom who is in the picture just returned back to activity in the church. What great blessings! I loVe it!

Look how gross the water is, and yet it doesn't bother them. THey know that this is a sacred ordinance they have to do to receive the kingdom of god.
